Burberry Perry is no more, the upcoming rapper-producer says in the midst of news that British fashion brand Burberry sued him over his name and use of their logos for the cover art of his self-titled EP. He traded the stage name for TheGoodPerry, he announced via Twitter with the release of his new single, “Blueberry.”
The Atlanta artist was heavily featured on Lil Yachty’s recent Summer Songs 2 mixtape. On Twitter, Lil Yachty took responsibility for the name in question, saying he came up with it for his friend. He also offers some pretty funny alternative stage names. Those tweets have since been deleted, but were captured by Pigeons and Planes.
This isn’t the first time rappers have had to change their stage names due to corporate interference. Rolls Royce Rizzy lost a lawsuit in March with luxury car company Rolls Royce over his moniker. He now simply goes by Royce Rizzy. Snow Tha Product also says that she removed her affiliation with Snow White after Disney threatened to take legal action.
