It's been more than 20 years, but our prayers have finally been answered!
The 1992 Whoopi Goldberg classic Sister Act is in the works for a Disney remake, multiple sources confirm to E! News after The Hollywood Reporter broke the story.
While Goldberg has yet to comment on her involvement in the reboot as Sister Mary Catherine (fingers crossed, though!) the writers from girl power comedies Legally Blonde, She's the Man and House Bunny Kirstin "Kiwi" Smithand Karen McCullah are confirmed to pen the nun-tastic film. Alli Shearmur from Disney's live-action hit Cinderella will produce.
In the original flick, Goldberg's character finds refuge in a San Francisco convent while hiding out from a mob boss who has put the former lounge singer on his hit list. After earning $231 million worldwide, a Sister Act sequel was released in 1993 and was later adapted into a Tony-award nominated musical.
Safe to say we'll be settled back in the habit in no time.
